She was preceded in death by her loving husband Robert W, “Bo” Hawkins in January of 2011. The couple was married in Winchester, Virginia in 1960 & enjoyed over 50 years of marriage together.

Also preceding her in death was her only brother Irvin D Flint and her own youngest child & only son Robert W “Bobby” Hawkins, Jr.

Mary Lou graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1956, then went on to pursue an education in Nursing at the Ohio Valley Hospital School of Nursing in Steubenville, Ohio, graduating in 1959.

She enjoyed a career in nursing that spanned over 50 years, keeping her license active present day.  She absolutely loved being a nurse. She worked in several different specialties with her last job being the Public Health Nurse in Toronto. She “retired” several   times, before finally deciding to stay home. She expressed a desire to return to work numerous time, even in recent months.

Her family was very important to her. Together with Bo, they raised a family, leaving behind lots of memories to cherish of family vacations, weekend trips & simple times spent together sitting on the back deck talking for hours.

Mary Lou was an avid Ohio State fan, having been brainwashed by Bob early on in their relationship. They attended many football games as a family including a trip to Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona for the National Championship in 2002/2003.

She will be sadly missed & fondly remembered by her family & friends left behind.
