Rebecca “Betty” Doris Green Zimmerman passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2021 at Lancia Villa Vista in Steubenville, OH, where she resided.
Betty was born on Tack’s Beach, Newfoundland on May 9, 1932 to Albert and Dorothy (Trowbridge) Green. She came to the United States in the early 1950’s, settling in Knoxville, OH where she resided for many years and raised her family.
Betty was a former member of the ladies Auxiliary of the Knoxville Fire Department as well as the Jefferson County Genealogical Society, volunteering many service hours to both groups. A great woman of faith, Betty was raised in the Church of England in Newfoundland and has been a member of the Wintersville United Methodist Church for the past fifteen years.
Betty is survived by three sons, Alan (Marta) Stig of Carson, WA, Wayne (Liz) Zimmerman of Mingo Junction, OH, and Tony (Mary) Zimmerman of Wellsburg, WV, a daughter Carol Krynicki of Toronto, OH, granddaughters Christina (Gene) Kelley-Taylor of Toronto, OH and Ashley (Tim) Miles of Grimesland NC, great-granddaughter Keirston Kelley (Marcus) of Follansbee, WV, and great-great grandson Marcus Alkire. She also leaves behind her loving nieces and nephews in Newfoundland and Canada and many friends and loved ones, as well as her beloved ragdoll cat, Bailey.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by sister Jane Dowden, and brothers Heber and Malcolm Green.
Friends may call at Clarke Funeral Home on Thursday, December 30th from 3-6 PM until time of services at 6 P.M. with Rev. Dr. Clint Quillen, Jr. officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Betty’s name to the Tony Teramana Cancer Center or the Wintersville United Methodist Church.
