Robert "Monk" Benjamin Montgomery, age 79 passed away peacefully with his two daughters at his side Monday, May 23, 2022 at the Weirton Medical Center.
He was born November 11, 1942 in Steubenville the son of the late John "Jack" Montgomery and Edith (Donahue) Montgomery.
Monk loved to go camping, hunting with his beagles, go traveling and was well known in the community; was a member of Toronto American Legion Post # 86 and the Toronto Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie # 1276; was a 1960 graduate of Toronto High School and a graduate of West Liberty University graduating in business administration and was employed through the Ironworkers Local Union # 549 and served his country in the U.S. Army.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Roy and Charles Montgomery and nephew Rob Roy Montgomery.
Monk is survived by his daughters, Bobbi Lynn (Stephen) Montgomery-Sninchak and Lisa Rachael Montgomery; grandchildren, Spenser Austin (Kacy) and Nicholas Joseph Sninchak; great-grandchildren, Sophia and Jakson; former wife Norma Taggart Montgomery; brother Jack Montgomery and several nieces and nephews.
A private family visitation for Monk will be held 6 to 8 PM Friday, May 27th at the Clarke Funeral Home, Toronto followed by a celebration service of Monk's life with the Reverend Kevin Rinkes officiating. Interment will be held at the Toronto Union Cemetery at a later date.
Full military honors will be presented honoring Monk's service to his country following the service at 8 PM by the Toronto American Legion Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions in memory of Monk may be made to the charity of the donors choice.
