Robert Vincent Chadwick, age 88 of Toronto passed away Thursday, May 23, 2019 at his home.
Robert loved and lived for his family.
He was born July 25, 1930 in East Liverpool, OH, the son of the late Walter Chadwick and Elizabeth “Libby” (Canne) Chadwick Coleman.
Robert “Bob” was also preceded in death by his only sister, Jean “Goldie” Golden of East Liverpool, Ohio and his beloved wife of 61 years, Rebecca “Becky” (Hughes) Chadwick who passed in 2013 whom he married April 19, 1952.
He is survived by his daughter, Colleen (Tim) Anderson of Yorba Linda, CA; sons, Robert “Bobby” (Abigail) Chadwick of Leavenworth, KS and Mark Chadwick , his special angel of Yorba Linda, CA; grandchildren, Ashley (Jeff) Girard of Leavenworth, KS, Susan (Erik) Hand of Alexandria, VA, Andrew (Gretchen) Chadwick of Arlington, VA and Kristen Anderson of Redonlo Beach, CA. and two precious great- grandsons, Ethan Girard of Leavenworth, KS and Nolan Hand of Alexandria, VA; surviving are his sisters-in-law, Marie Bernabei and Wanda Hughes both of Toronto; brother-in-law, Walter “Goldie” Golden of East Liverpool, OH. Many beloved nieces and nephews of whom he was very proud survive.
Bob was a graduate of East Liverpool High School (1948) and the University of Pittsburgh (1970).
He served his country by enlisting in the U.S. Navy (1948 to 1949 ). He retired from the Weirton Steel Co. as Superintendent after 30 years (1952-1982) and from the Jefferson County Technical College (1983-1997) .
Bob was an Eagle Scout and a 61 year member of the Toronto Masonic Lodge # 583 F. & AM and the Elks.
Bob’s greatest joy was taking care of his “special” son, Mark which he did selflessly for almost 61 years. He always said “God gave him to me”.
Visitation hours for Robert will be held 4-8 Tuesday, June 4th at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main St., Toronto. Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 A.M. Wednesday, June 5th at the St. Francis Roman Catholic Church followed by a Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 11 A.M. with celebrant the Reverend Father Thomas Vennitti. Interment will follow at the Toronto Union Cemetery. Full Military Honors will be presented at the cemetery.
A Vigil service will be held at 4 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Masonic Services will be held at 7:30 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions in memory of Robert may be given to the St. Francis Roman Catholic Church, 1225 North River Avenue 43964.
