Robert C Hargrave, age 77 of Pittsburgh (formerly of Steubenville and Wintersville) passed away of natural causes at his home on Wednesday, May 11, 2022.
Bob was born March 4, 1945 in Wheeling, West Virginia the son of the late Frank and Pauline (Adams) Hargrave.
He was a 1963 graduate of Adena High School, after graduation from Muskingum College; he attended The Ohio State University College of Law and passed the bar in 1970. He served in the Army from 1971 through 1974, attaining the rank of JAGC Captain; He was stationed at Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston Texas, the Korean support command center in Taegu, Korea, and at Fort Knox, Kentucky.
In 1974 he joined the law firm of Kinsey, Allebaugh, & King. Which he became the firm of King, Hargrave, Scurti & Jack. He retired in January of 2022 from Bruzzese Law practice. He was a member of the Jefferson County Bar Association and served as president in 1997. He was proud to be affiliated with the Jefferson County Law Library, and served as an officer and trustee for many years.
He was a member of the Steubenville Rotary Club serving as president in 1983.
He was appointed to the board of directors of People’s National Bank of Mount Pleasant in 1984 and was CEO and chairman until 2019. He was president of the Board of trustees of Union Cemetery from 2001 to 2019.
He was an avid reader of recipes and enjoyed tasting wine from around the world. In restaurants, he often asked the server to select his entrée believing they would choose wisely for him.
Bob is survived by his wife, Christine M. (Cattrell) Hargrave, two sons Brian (Teresa) Hargrave of Jamestown, OH, Jeff (Jean) Hargrave of Tipp City, OH. His two step children are Marla (Scott) Inderbitzen of Beaver Falls, PA, and Craig McCasland of Richwood, OH; His grandchildren are Alexander, Marissa, Katrina, Tori, and Lizzie Hargrave, Jake Inderbitzen, Anna Unice, Kaitlin McCasland. He is also survived by Helen Morris, his longtime legal secretary and “Mother”.
Visitation hours for Bob will be held at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main St., Toronto, Ohio on Sunday May 15, 2022, from 3:00pm to 7:00pm.
A celebration service of Bob’s life will be held 11:00am Monday, May 16th at the funeral home with the Reverend Michael Bongart officiating. Entombment will follow at the Union Cemetery, Steubenville where there will be full military honors by the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.
