Shirley Jean Martelle, age 91, a homemaker of Toronto passed away November 26, 2019 at her home.
She was born June 2, 1928 in Steubenville the daughter of the late Richard and Oma Olive (Webster) Nixon.
She was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church of Toronto where she had been a Sunday School teacher and a member of the United Methodist Women; she was very active in the YWCA, Campfire Girls and Boy Scouts and was a member of the N&N Club.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Richard T. Martelle in 1993 whom she married July 17, 1951; son Norman R. Martelle in 2007, daughter in law Sally Martelle in 2004, and a brother, David Nixon in 2018.
She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Ellen Martelle of Toronto; brother, Mark (Donna) Nixon of North Royalton, OH; grandchildren, Brandon (Elizabeth) Martelle of Carroll, OH and Sarah (Jose) Hernandez of Davenport, FL; great-grandchildren, Alexander, Olivia, Nicolas, Lucas, Victoria, Jonathan Herandez, and Alexia and Harley Martelle.
There will be a visitation at the Clarke Funeral Home 302 Main Street Toronto, Ohio from 10 AM to 11 AM Saturday, November 13th followed by a memorial service celebrating the life of Shirley at 11 AM with the Reverend Kevin Rinkes officiating.
