Shirley Mae Tond, a homemaker, age 85 of Toronto passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021 at the Memories of Marie Assisted Living Facility, Toronto.
She was born December 11, 1935 in Steubenville , the daughter of the late Howard Martin and Dorothy (Koehnlein) Nease.
Shirley loved to go to bingo, to Las Vegas and loved playing the slots at Mountaineer Race Tract and Gaming Resort. She had served as an election poll worker; was a 1954 graduate of Toronto High School and had been employed in the bakery at the former Harts store in Steubenville.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Albert E. “Albie” Tond, Sr. in 2015 whom she married June 30, 1953; son, Albert E. Tond, Jr. in 2002 and a brother, Bobby Nease.
Shirley is survived by a son, Barry L (Marlena) Tond of Toronto; granddaughters, Amanda (Ed) Thompson of Hanoverton, OH and Melanie (Daniel) Welsh of Bloomingdale; great-grandsons, Patrick and Matthew Welsh and Evan Thompson; brothers, Howard and Jerry Nease and sister Mary Martha Mechenbier all of Columbus, OH.
The family of Shirley gives a very special thanks the staff of Memories of Marie for the outstanding care and love they gave to Shirley.
Shirley’s arrangements will be private at the convenience of her family and are in the care of the Clarke Funeral Home, Toronto.
